bravo
best map we have seen so far
except perhaps for brownlies diagrams i think
but now i must run back to the library to study his 5 theses again
in light of all this

for example
i was expecting bwzw to look straighter than shown here
since it has been described as a row of beacons
which i think may indicate a very straight line indeed
as of a series of intervisible monuments
so there could be a lot of spurious accuracy in all this depiction
just as in the characterization of impalila or mpalila island &
lodge as adjacent to the quadriarea
since they are clearly in normal stage 1 to 10 km west of it

your map does however make it absolutely certain that sedudu
island & the 1999 icj decision are even farther off point than that
hahaha
so happily you have already spared me from demonstrating that
much of my ignorance for sure

other nice new details in all this for us are the kakumba mudflats
that actually adjoin the quadriarea on the namibian side
& the reversible chobe zambezi side channel between them &
impalila island
the head of which
a full kilometer higher up the zambezi
is most probably the true thalweg junction in times of reverse
flow

& that is a possible complication which makes it all the more
important to determine whether there has been a legal diversion
of nazm from the living zambezi thalweg to a series of plotted
points since the 1930s

for yikes such a reverse flow might even make the kakumba flats
botswanan territory for the duration of the abnormality
regardless of whether nazm had already been legally fixed all the
way down the zambezi to the chobe thalweg junction as it existed
& was depicted in 1931
since that would only bind nazm in any case
while bwna has always followed the living chobe thalweg only
hahaha
so there is quite an additional puzzle if a temporarily reversed &
displaced thalweg is legally still the thalweg

this smacks more of avulsion & disavulsion than accretion tho
so i am entirely puzzled about both whether & how to address it

but anyway i am glad & grateful that all this new input gives me
enough pause to want to go back to brownlie
before proceeding further
