In message 10655, I mentioned a visit years ago to a general store astride the
state boundary at Bethany, Louisiana/Texas. It was a classic small store, then
neatly painted white, with the name "The Alexander Company" in black on the
gable.

I visited Bethany again on Wednesday and found that the building was a run-down,
boarded-up former antique store, called the "Lickskillet Old Time Store."
"Lickskillet" was an early name for the Bethany community.

Photo 608 attached was taken from across US 79 in front of the building. The
photo looks south. Photo 610 is a close-up of the porch. The boundary is
marked by a blue line painted on the steps, floor, and wall. To the left is
Caddo Parish, Louisiana, and to the right is Panola County, Texas.

To my knowledge, this is the only building on the LATX boundary.
