Problem of Kyrgyz enclave in Uzbekistan solved

During a session of the intergovernmental committee on delimitation
of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border in Taškent, a protocol was signed on the
execution of the intergovernmental agreement of July 2, 2000,
ensuring free travel to Kyrgyztan for the inhabitants of the enclave
Barak, situated in Uzbek territory. This was reported March 13 to
Radio "Azattyk" by the representative of Kyrgyzstan to the Eurasian
economic community Bazarbaj Mambetov, who is heading the Kyrgyz
delegation. According to him, the Uzbek authorities have already, in
compliance with the protocol, ordered the local authorities in the
border area to open up the road to the enclave.
Uzbekistan closed the road to the Kyrgyz village Barak in January
2002, and in January 2003 it dismantled the bridge over the river
Šachrichansaj in Kara-Suu rayon, on the boundary of the two
countries. Bazarbaj Mambetov also said that the participants of the
Taškent meeting will today finish a draft agreement on the
establishment of joint boundary crossing points. The talks will end
on friday.
