on closer examination
the overwhelming majority of the hundreds of circle cities depicted by the
atlas of georgia & referred to in message 899 have evaporated into former
circle cities
since it now appears that only a small fraction of them have survived to
the present with their original boundaries intact

the state totals are thus severely reduced from the earlier estimates
tho the medalists are probably still georgia & sc & nc respectively

moreover the great majority of the surviving circles have been found to
have a radius of a mile or less
most of them much less

only homer ga with a radius of about 9000 feet stands out from the group

& the original example which i mentioned in the first great roundup of
circle boundaries
namely cole city ga with a radius of 2 full miles
remains unchallenged as the greatest
even tho it is curiously overlooked by the georgia atlas & the tiger server
& can be found only on the alflga topo
