I am not an expert on German territories, but as I
think somebody wanted to know about the presence in
Oceania.
Germany had an impressive presence over Africa and
Oceania. In Oceania, they had three areas, that were
transferred to four different countries and two of
which does not exist in the same form anymore. They
had Papua (or is it New Guinea) while Australia had
the other portion of the eastern part of the island.
Australia got the German part after World War I and
they joined under Australia, later becoming Papua New
Guinea, the independent country. Micronesian islands
at first became Japanese after World War I and
American after World War II. Currently there are four
territories of Northern Marianas, Palau, Marshall
Islands and Federated States of Micronesia. The only
territory to retain its shape actually was jointly
administered by French and British governments as New
Hebrides and after independence was named Vanuatu.
