as well as i could in the days before it was monumented<br/>
3 retries made today to find the 2year old monument <br/>
from the sw & nw & west respectively<br/>
all fell far short of the mark<br/>
<br/>
a formerly successful access route was locked this time<br/>
& i even remade one mistake today that i had also made previously<br/>
doh<br/>
straying far to the north when the sun again disappeared<br/>
<br/>
you can see the layout fairly well on topozone<br/>
tho the maps are badly misleading<br/>
particularly with regard to the trails<br/>
<br/>
will try again with a revised plan tomorrow<br/>
possibly by boat from the launch 2mi downstream<br/>
or possibly walking east overland along alfa again<br/>
from chattahoochee state park in alabama<br/>
but with a strategic detour this time deep into florida <br/>
from the point of the irwin marker<br/>
which btw is about the only thing en route that is shown correctly<br/>
<br/>
such a radical zigzag maneuver now seems the best bet for picking up <br/>
the winning but locked trail that follows along the irwin creek <br/>
toward the chattahoochee somewhat as depicted on the map<br/>

meanwhile back here at the marianna library<br/>
no trace of nearby oktahatko yet in the local history files<br/>
tho it shows up a few times on the internet<br/>
& i have it narrowed down to a fairly tight target area<br/>
also marked for exploration tomorrow</div>
