Contracts signed for new
Hungarian border crossing | 19:48 | Beta
BELGRADE -- Monday A 9.2 million
euro agreement on construction of a new Yugoslavia-Hungary border crossing at
Horgos was signed in Belgrade today.
The contract was signed by the
director of the Federal Property Bureau, Dragomir Popov, and the director of the
European Agency for Reconstruction, Richard Zink.
Construction is to
begin in December and is expected to be complete in 20 months.
The new
crossing, four hundred metres west of the existing checkpoint, will have three
entry and three exit lanes, an 84,000 square metre customs facility and a 44,000
square metre truck terminal.
Describing the project as important to
Serbia and Montenegro and the region as a whole, Zink said the Horgos crossing
would be the main gate to Europe once Hungary joins the EU in 2004.

Best Vancouver excuse for being late for
work:
"A movie was being shot and they detained me for
continuity."
