I've been going through pictures to select a few which may be
helpful to anyone who aspires to visit some of the more difficult
locations.  Here are a couple of shots at idmtwy.  The first one
is the same as in the book but shows two of the yellow Bearing
Tree signs. There is a circle of these around the marker making
it much easier to know you are close long before you see the
marker.  The second shot is of Clark Hall when we were having
a lunch break.  Thes was up on the plateau and you can clearly
see the devastation caused by the fire.  Remember this was late
July 1997, nine years after the fire. The fire was so intense in this
area that the soil was completely burned or at least sterilized
with no viable seeds left to regenerate.  Gradually grasses and
flowers are coming in by wind and birds but tree seeds will take
much longer.  Some of the areas in the west hit hardest by this
years fires may well look like this ten years from now, especially
at the higher elevations.
More locations later
