yes i was already under arrest as a suspicious character there in the
uptight blufftop community of east dubuque illinois when i impulsively
bolted from my astonished captors & then even proceeded to trespass upon
some of the private property they were ineffectually guarding & which you
see there while still somewhat vaguely in their custody in order to shoot
this perfectly centered class d photo of the iailwi tripoint which lies
near midriver here probably visible just above the edge of the dropoff

in the end i was actually commanded by one of these bothered & confused
police officers to take this shot

shoot he shouted

it was his way of restoring order & authority & dignity

of course i immediately obeyed so we could both make our point without
further ado

& tho they begged to search me & would have gladly busted me
because i guess i truly am a suspicious character
it was i who busted them in that moment with the click of my shutter

the following year jane & i canoed to the tripoint itself from the far bank
at dubuque iowa also visible here on the far shore for a class b visit & a
closer but not a finer photo

see http://www.angelfire.com/md2/polystate/iliawi.JPG for that river level
view
which also faces northwest toward the same finger of land uncannily
pointing directly at the tripoint from dubuque
as also appears dramatically at
http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=42.507&lon=-90.6516&s=25&size=s

a 4 frame journey down into this particular rabbit hole begins at

& concludes at

http://www.angelfire.com/md2/polystate2/kyvawv.JPG shows this elusive marker
as well as the rock cap gregg placed upon it
which may still enhance & emphasize it to this day
& which alone enabled me to rediscover it a few weeks after him amidst so
much riverborne debris as to have made it otherwise virtually invisible &
impossible

hahahahahaha
we need more questions like this

we are headed here with a canoe tomorrow

i am pretty sure the trick here is to observe & follow the descending ridge
line northward & right down across the tallest rocks
which naturally mark the ridge also
all the way to the mean low water line
which is indeed rarely seen
& may be marked here as in many places by a perceptible change in the algae
coloring or slipperiness of the rocks

one last point i must add is that my canvor shot presently at the corner
corner front page is way off
& is corrected by http://www.angelfire.com/md2/polystate/canvor.JPG
