Dear Michael, thanks for your inquiry about the Tp BeDeLu
(I'm about
to learn the abbrevs...- you see...):
In my humble opinion this point - or pair of joint zone
tp-twins should
most certainly be considered as one point
and one point only !
I just consulted my Belgian topo-map 1:25.000 on this
matter:
- and I remember the topo-reality from my two visits to
this tp:
the river Our forms the border between
Germany and Luxemburg
and Germany and Belgium . A small creek:
Ribbach forms the
border between Luxemburg and Belgium. Where Ribbach
empties
into the Our, that's where we got our tripoint. This tp
was - some
years ago - marked by a sign on Lux-territory telling "Les
trois
frontières" - in the meantime another "Euro-monument"
was erected
at this place, I was told... - we'll find out next year on
our expedition...!
The Belgian-German boundary-line is marked on either side
of the
Our-river by boundary markers (stones) starting with
number 1 -
and these stones are placed on both sides of the river
alternately..!
This could very well be symbolic for the joint
administration of the
river ! On my map no boundary markers are shown on the
Lux-Ger
portion of the Our...
The Our is in fact no river, maybe a
creek would be a more appropiate name for that body of water - about 3meters
wide...
BTW: a couple of days ago I received Jack Parsell's book
on Tri-
State Corners - wonderful work...! This book also reveals
photo-
graphs of some of this site's VIP's - including
yourself...!
All the best
Peter
