As you know, it has always been BoundaryPoint's intent to keep
membership and posting privileges as open as possible. Within the
past month or so however, two unrelated commercial "spam" messages
have been posted to the group. In reponse, I have "banned" the
associated e-mail addresses. However, that in itself is probably not
an efective spam-prevention remedy, as open posting privileges have
up until now been available regardless of BP memebership status. In
a further effort to eliminate spam messages, posting privileges have
been changed from "Anyone can post" to "Members only". At present,
anyone can become a member of BoundaryPoint; hopefully more dramatic
steps (such as restricted membership and moderated posts) will be
unnecessary. Personally, I hope that no further action will be
necessary to prevent unrelated spam messages. Please feel free to
let me know how you feel about this...your comments are important and
most welcome.
