Last weekend I made a little trip to the south (south of the
Netherlands, that is, and more precisely the Ardennes and Eifel
regions). With me I took my little Soviet FED camera, which I bought
last year in Russia, just to try it out.

So, inspired by the hot weather here in the Netherlands, I decided to
send you some pictures of a nice place to hold a picknick, in the
German hamlet of Hemmeres.

As most of you will know, once there was a railway running straight
through this hamlet, which was similar to the Vennbahn in the way that
it was Belgian territory, even if it crossed Germany. The western part
of Hemmeres was a German exclave.

But now, the railway has been dismantled, and the railway bed is German
just like the surrounding area. The obsolete boundary markers found a
new function, though. To serve the hamlet community during their (no
doubt) festive picknicks and other gatherings.

More pictures to follow shortly.
