Maybe &quot;braiding&quot; is the wrong word, conjuring up a myriad separate <br/>
streams. These are big wide powerful rivers, and what I was seeing <br/>
was numerous sandy/gravel islands appearing as the water level falls <br/>
during the dry season. In turn, these suggested the likelihood of <br/>
scouring and shifting watercourses.<br/>

&quot;BoNaZaZi&quot; was my own lazy invention, since I can&#39;t for the life of <br/>
me remember the correct digraphs, and can never understand them when <br/>
anyone else uses them. So I stuck the first two letters of each <br/>
country together in alphabetical order, and obtained something that <br/>
seemed pleasingly African and hintingly close to &quot;bonanza&quot;.<br/>
