Sorry to interfere (again), but I have a nice map that explains the
situation. Green is Flintshire, except the part at the bottom of the
scan (this is a part of Montgomeryshire). As you see, Flintshire
consisted of three parts.
The scan is from an Ordnance Survey map (UK Administrative), published
in 1996, and is from a little map that goes with it, depicting the
situation of 1879.
