This scan is the sketch map of enclaves along the India-Bangladesh boundary
from an article by R.Banerjee, the Commissioner of the Presidency division
of West Bengal (that is the officer in charge of the districts east of the
Hoogly river, including those in the north of West Bengal, the other
division of WB was Burdwan division, being the districts west of the
Hoogly). Appendix II, An account of enclaves - origin and development",
pp128-131 of B.Ray (1966), "Census 1961, West Bengal, District Census
Handbook, Cooch Behar", Government Printing/ANU Press, Calcutta.
After p131 there is a 2 page (4 side) insert, unpaginated, glued in. The
inner sides of this have the map as shown, and the outer two sides have
lists of the enclave villages corresponding to the numbering on the map,
giving enclave names, areas in acres, and the police station to which they
belong, and in which they are located.

Note that some enclaves are divided into a number of numbered pieces, each
being a listed village.
No number, however, correesponds to more than one fragment/enclave/piece.
Angarpota and dahagran are green numbers 27/28, and are now connected to the
Bangladesh peninsula to their immediate east by an 85m long fenced corridor
called Tin Bigha, Indian owned byut leased to Bangladesh for 999years. This
is now open for Bangladesh transit from 6:30am to 7:30pm or so, with 2 1hour
breaks. It used to be open alternate hours only, until 5 April 2001.

All the other enclaves are due to be swapped by a 1974 treaty ratified by
Bangladesh in 1974, but not yet by India. The enclaves on the boundary
itself(esp. pink #8&9), are now part of Jalpaiguri district, having been
transferred to Jalpaiguri fomr Cooch Behar in the 1950s.

Note the enclave of Cooch Behar in Assam on the east. There are also three
much smaller Assam enclaves in cooch Behar to the south of this.
They do not appear to have been exchanged to date.
