misc. border shots

Here are a few other mixed border shots that might be interesting.

1) The Kuwait-Saudi Arabia border crossing.  This picture was taken during the Gulf War in 1991.  The borderline is not well defined in this shot, but notice how the facilities have been nearly destroyed.

2) This is me straddling the Finland-Sweden border last summer (2000) at Tornio/Haparanda.  The border at this point goes through an island in the Tornio River.

3) These two shots are of me standing at the old frontier zone border (not the actual border, but about two km from it).  Taken in 1986.

4) Here's the Arctic Circle as it's marked just north of Rovaniemi, Finland.

5) An explorer straddling the Prime Meridian at Greenwich, England.

6) The geographical center of North America in North Dakota.

7) A marker from 1906 near the corner of the barn on the Connecticut-Massachusetts border.

8) While the pavement change in the road is a straight line, it isn't accurate, for the border is actually at a fairly sharp angle here.  The two markers on the front lawn of this house mark the border.  The line does not go through this house, but instead just misses its right (Northeast) corner. So, the yard is in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
