Thanks Martin for this phantastic link,
what should we do without the CIA???
Here I was working, sweating and
swearing at my computer, and suddenly
theCIA comes up with the final result:
BUT: I noticed some differences regard-
ing length of boundaries etc. ....
so who's right: Biger or CIA?
Best regards
Peter H.

Zealand charts (NZ 223F and 224F) the mooted high seas enclave between the EEZs generated by North Island and the Kermadek Islands doesn't exist although, as you will see from the attached extract from 223F, it's very close (I reckon the gap is about 2 nautical miles). The charts do however, confirm the existence of a small high seas enclave between South Island, the Bounty Islands and the Chatham Islands. A couple of other completely unrelated comments. Firstly, to supplement Peter's European boundary statistics you might like to visit http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/fields/land_boundaries.html which contains a digest of all the information on international boundary lengths from the CIA World Factbook. Secondly, Dallen's pictures of the Sovereign Order of Malta reminded me of a what is surely a unique territorial curiosity, namely the fact that one of the doors to the SMOM complex contains a keyhole through which you can see three sovereign political entities at once - SMOM itself, Italy and the Holy See. Not quite a tripoint, but certainly a collector's item! m a r t i n Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/ | |||
