I just got back from the Highpointers convention in Hawaii and found
message about Michael's impending trip to idmtwy. Also found in my
land mail copies of voluminous correspondence about idmtwy from Paul
Scherble the Wyoming surveyor responsible for the trip there in 1994
to document the location of the tripoint.

It now seems that Paul wants to name the so called elk-pee pond very
near the tripoint "Angle Point Lake". USGS is willing but they say
they need to be sure which state it is in. The map shows it mostly
in Idaho. Paul thinks it is in Montana. The mapping center of USGS
in Denver agrees that the map is innaccurate and they have done some
preliminary work to resolve the errors and get the boundary back on
the continental divide where it belongs. The problem is they don't
know where the divide is. As soon as they can get this resolved the
next printing of that quad will be corrected and presumably Paul will
get his lake named.

Meanwhile if Michael will post his land-mail address,(is it Lakeville
or Taconic?), I'll send copies of all of this correspondence which
may help a little in getting to the tripoint. There's too much to
scan and send via e-mail. I'll be back here at the computer later
this week and can send it then.
