Hi Bill,
Great to hear from you.  I'm glad to be in the group too.  ASU East, huh?  I live over by there, but I work at the main campus.  Arizona's a great place to work.

Cheers,
Dallen

Hi Dallen...welcome to the group!  We're very glad you found us, and I hope you enjoy it.  I laughed when I read how you thought you were the only border fanatic in the world...I think all of us have probably thought that at one time or another...I sure did. I have a special affinity for ASU as well...my son graduated from ASU's aviation program last year and is currently the chief pilot instructor over at the East campus. Look forward to hearing more from you!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Dallen Timothy (yes Timothy is the last name), and I am a professor at Arizona State University.  I have spent the past 15 years researching borders, their locations, their demarcation, etc., and have loved every minute of it.  Thanks to Brendan Whyte, I was introduced to this discussion group--full of people who are interesting in borders.  My word, until now, I thought I was the only border fanatic in the world!!!  It's great to see so many people involved in sharing their experiences, photos, and maps.  I've spent a few hours reading through the archived messages.  These are the same kinds of questions I've been wanting to ask and answer, but haven't yet found anybody who is interested in borders the way I am.  So, in short, I'm thrilled to become a discussant in the group.  I have hundreds of great border photos that I would be pleased to share with the group, and at least as many interesting stories to tell.  In fact I have spent the past two months working on African, European, and North American borders--all on the government's expense!!! Is there any better way?

I'll send some of my more interesting photos along in the next few days.

Cheers,
Dallen Timothy
