I didn't have anything to do with creating the site. Someone told me
about it and then I read something about it in the local newspaper.
It is a pretty nifty site.

For better map quality and speed I still prefer the Topo! CD-ROM
product, but it is not free. It's $49 for a CD-ROM covering
approximately one New England state and nationwide coverage is not
available because it primarily addresses the recreation market.

I notice that a Canadian company has bought Maps a la Carte, the
company that runs topozone. I wish they would add the Canadian topo
maps, but this appears unlikely. Canadian maps are copyrighted by
Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada, unlike the US topo maps
which are in the public domain.
