Hello Peter S., Peter H. calling...:
concerning this Lithuanian exclave:
I just checked my (Hungarian) road map
on the Baltic states, scale 1:850.000,
bought in Budapest in 1991 (!) - yes, the
enclave is still there...
BUT: as you mention yourself: it could
have been exchanged in the meantime...
so let's hope for some up-to-date info!
all the best
Peter H. / DK

Does anybody know if the Pagiriai enclave (a small piece of Lithuania inside Belarus) still exists?
I can find it in my (rather old) Soviet atlas, but not on a map of Lithuania I bought there last
year, although this map is of a much larger scale (i.e. shows more detail) than the one in the
atlas. A quick search on the internet provided an old news item (Nov 10, 1994), that there were
border talks and the enclave could be exchanged for some other territory. Does anybody know the
outcome of these border negotiations?
