ahh i see
we might say metro area tripoints
fascinating question too
as there are a great many tristate areas or tristates commonly referred to here

new york city for example is in perhaps the most famous tristate area
the ctnjny
yet it is only an area & has no actual tristate point
since there is no ctnj meeting but only a near miss
etc

we do however actually have
armstn at memphis tn pop700m
iailwi at dubuque ia pop60m
ianesd at sioux city ia pop80m
denjpa probably at chester pa small city pop unknown
& arguably but probably not really ilinmi at chicago

el paso tx & juarez mx share an international tristate point
& imperial beach ca & tijuana mx a medley international tripoint

as for the multinationals
well you tell us please
if this is your predilection to research
as i am quite ignorant there & interested to learn
