the night we failed to meet last year
i was intending to try laorospo & to invite bill to meet me there
 
when that didnt happen
bill tried it himself a few weeks later on our combined behalf
 
we were both working only from delorme
& since you probably dont have this
you can approximate it most closely by mapquest at 200k scale
 
of course dont peek at 25k scale or the whole scenario will evaporate
 
now when bill reported finding all the anticipated county welcoming signs & pavement changes in a place that seemed to correspond to delorme
we figured we had to look a few hundred feet south of the highway based on what we knew was a not very reliable delorme at this scale
 
but the exigency & strangeness of the situation caused bill to notice also that there was an additional totally unexpected county welcoming sign about a half mile down the road
which even under selective availability allowed us to guess the true laorospo position with accuracy nearly as good as at the present gps range
& by this means to pin the angle of the corner sliver cut by the highway fairly confidently at 4 degrees
 
this was owing to the generosity of trigonometry
i later realized
but i actually had to reinvent this math on the spot
by observing arithmetically that triangles of single numbers of degrees run fully or nearly 57 times as far or as fast as they rise
 
& i believe it was only this rapid fire series of transcendently observant & inventive responses by bill on the spot in florida & me in connecticut
including his careful examination down to the level of inches & finally of a millimetric blue dimple on what i am now guessing was actually a surveyors template
that i think enabled him & us to make this point at all at that time
even if topozone & a gps makes it almost as easily without effort today
 
today the putative template is spray painted orange & the post rising from it is festooned with seemingly celebratory orange & yellow survey tape
 
& the experiment that we tried & i retried on this point continue to reverberate not only in bp today but in the fact that the point is still not absolutely objectively validated
tho only greatly surmised & wished
 
 
well time is about up again in marathon
it was 26 hours & 13 minutes since my last post from here
i figure just about a perfectly exact marathon in miles per hour conversion
 
in the meantime the amphibious unit was completely resurrected by major engine surgery at 296k miles
along with an 18 year old repair shop out of commission for a week
& its owner vertical again
i kid you not
