now where was i
oh yes
dumbing myself down
great fun

for this reason i have never owned a gps nor even a compass & often like to make a first try without a map if possible

if you miss a point the first time out of otherwise avoidable ignorance or for any other reason
you can still make a smarter try the next time & double your pleasure at the very least

for in the final analysis
the journey is all

so the objective & the thing actually found are only the beginning & end of it
while what is experienced en route may be even more to the point of it

also the dumber i can get
the more observant & imaginative & generally resourceful i must be
if i am serious about success

it is the best mental gym i can think of

probably the most gratifying & stunning successes i have ever had were in finding
on totally handicapped separate tries
a couple of dilapidated & forgotten 18th century quadrimunicipal markers
or what could also be called quaternary megapoints
a category unprecedented in my experience
in deep woods near home in new england

i then actually had the pleasure of restoring the hand chiseled stone markers & straightening up their orientation somewhat

now did the hugeness of the clallenge produce the grandeur of the results

i fancied so the first time
then succeeded in recreating the experiment to prove it to myself at least
so thats why i can attest to it

anyway for me & i imagined for bill also
it was this same principle of being so in the dark about & mystified by this tricky laorospo point that led to such unexpected resourcefulness & even artistry

still working up to remembering the whole amazing story
& being kicked off the computer again & indeed out of the library
so please bear with me
