Buenos dias, amigos de la frontera...!
A friend of mine recently visited the
Kaukasus area - quite an unstable region
with a lot of occasional fighting going on -
but most interesting, too ! His report made
me dream about visiting this area soon...
- yes, I will definetely remember my bullit
proof jacket - ...
I bought a map over the region that clearly
shows most of the enclaves/exclaves mentioned
by Rolf in his "Encl. of the World - list.
The Armenian excl. of Artvashen is clearly
visible N of Lake Sevan a few miles N of the
border Armenia-Azerb.
TheAzerbajdjani territory of Nakhichevan
(Rolf's Naxcivan) is cut off from Azerb. proper
by Armenia and the small excl. of Karki/Kyarki
can be spotted just NW of the border with Armenia.
Another Az. exclave Yuxari/Yukari can be seen
W of the Az/Arm border near the letter "K" N of
highway M24. The last Az. exclave Azatamut
is very close to the Arm/Az. border on the same
highway, but not encircled by the usual green
boundary strip - must be because the map is
scale 1:1.000.000 !
Anyone interested in a trip to this area...?!?
Enjoy and
all the best
Peter
