just winging it here
but at least from a multisovereign & multipointing perspective
it is good to make a distinction between neutral zones & joint zones

this is because sharing & closing a territory are really 2 different things

when a territory is truly neutral
meaning not both but neither of 2 sovereignties is sovereign there
it can scarcely be said to be bisovereign
nor sovereign at all for that matter

of course it is not absolutely nonsovereign
since its closure is the result of a bilateral agreement about lands having
no other claimants than the 2 parties
& neither is it omnisovereign in the way that all the remote human heritage
preserves are

it does appear more a case of nonsovereignty than bisovereignty tho
because by contrast
when a territory is jointly used & enjoyed rather than mutually disregarded
it is only then fully & actually bisovereign

& it is bisovereign in the same sense that an international boundary is
bisovereign
yet more tangibly so in view of the increase in dimensionality here
progressing from joint line to joint area

the multisovereign ramifications of this distinction are interesting

any point upon or portion of the boundary of a true joint zone met by a
third sovereign territory becomes operationally multisovereign

thus it is possible to graduate as it were from tripoints to trilines

& we may already have a few of these in the luxembourg area at least
where river condominiums are believed to occur

but where neutral zones meet a third sovereign territory
the opportunity for attaining linear multisovereignty
if it exists at all in reality
does not seem nearly so clear

happily for multisovereignty enthusiasts
neutral zones seem to be more a thing of the past
being much more akin to the old fashioned frontiers & no mans lands
while joint zones are generally more modern & extant

blake in 1987 remarks
a highly significant feature of the world map is the emergence of zones of
joint economic exploitation
generally in response to disagreements over boundary delimitation
& he lists 5 successful types of joint zones & only 1 successful type of
neutral or restricted zone

clearly joint zones are in the ascendancy in all regards

m

the attainment of 3rd dimensional or areal multisovereignty
in tri areas etc
as distinct from omnisovereignty
tho thought to exist uniquely in lake constance
seems to have been foreclosed there by gideon
so there appears to be no clear example of this type yet
while the triarea search goes on as ever

however it doesnt feel so urgent a quest any longer
now that omnisovereign territory has been discovered
